THE WOMEN'S CLUB
 OF
SPRING LAKE

Picture
From Our President...
Maureen T. Cooney
PRESIDENT-2026-2028
WOMAN'S CLUB OF SPRING LAKE

As I begin my new role as president, I want to say that I am truly honored and excited to have been given this opportunity after being a member of the WCSL for close to 14 years. Over those years, I’ve taken on various positions;  Second Vice-President, Treasurer, Scholarship Selection Chair, to name a few. However, President is a very different position as now my plan to be just one part of a great team of dedicated women!

At present, there are 154 members in the Woman’s Club…thirty members have joined in the past two years! One goal I have is to see each member become involved with a committee or project. Our success as a nonprofit has always been a result of us all working together. Our membership’s continuous dedication to our fundraising efforts, for both our scholarship fund and the many charities we support, is admirable and inspiring. I believe we will continue to accomplish great things as we combine our efforts to raise funds…and I guarantee we will have some fun in the process!

I am ready to get started. I’ll be reaching out through email over the course of the next few months to get your thoughts on some updates and changes I’m considering. I’m open to your suggestions as well. Your feedback is important to me, so please keep an eye on your inbox—I want to make sure our path forward reflects the wishes of the entire club. I look forward to the coming two years and all that we will accomplish as we continue to help improve the lives of those in the community by supporting local organizations and providing scholarships.

Lastly, I want to recognize the leadership we’ve had these past two years. I want to thank Kathy Reddick for her tireless dedication as our President. We all owe Kathy a debt of gratitude for everything she has done for this club.

Thank you all and let’s get started!

Maureen T. Cooney
President of the WCSL

Overview of the Woman's Club of Spring Lake
Our Club has a rich history in Spring Lake for over 100 years. Our club was instrumental in the formation of the Spring Lake Library and Community house which opened on November 14, 1919. Our Club mission is to support local organizations, provide scholarships, promote civic, cultural and environmental initiatives. Our objectives are to support the charitable, operational, educational and social needs of organizations and individuals.  We achieve these goals by raising funds throughout the year for local charities and our scholarship program.  Our annual scholarship luncheon and gift raffle generate funds for scholarships to local high school students and women returning to college.  Our club sponsors trips to cultural events, museums, musical events, and overnight trips. We sponsor food drives, bake sales, clothing collections, luncheons, and dinners.  We work hard but we enjoy the company of our members. What makes us unique is that you can find our members in volunteer roles everywhere throughout the town. Whether it is providing wreaths and tray favors for our senior citizens, organizing a Veterans Day luncheon, reading books at the elementary school, we are always around!

We are a part of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs   (NJSFWC),  founded in 1894, with over 200 clubs throughout the State.  Its members are diverse in age and life experiences, but unified in their goal to make a difference in the lives of others.

If you have ever considered joining a Women’s Club, we encourage you to contact us to discuss membership.  You will have the opportunity for friendship, fun and fulfillment while working together as a member of The Woman’s Club of Spring Lake. Together we can make a difference within ourselves, within our homes, and within our communities.
